Clara, (7) saw the picture in a lego book she found at her school library. There were very little instruction on how to,but she was bound & determined. 5200 Adult Crocheted

This was a very difficult category to judge this year being virtual.  The judge decided to award 3 - First Place Ribbons.  Each exhibit was very different from the other and well deserving.  First place order listing was done alphabetically by first name and is not an indication of rank.

Placing Exhibitor's Name Description
1 Jenny VanLeeuwen Wildrose Backpack - crocheted with a 2.5mm hook and 4 skeins of Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton yarn. Started with a granny square and added to the top and bottom to form the body of the backpack. Two layer rectangle reinforces the bottom. The hardest and most time consuming part was crocheting the 55 inch cord. The tassel adds a fun pop of color.
1 Lisa Satterthwaite Waves Blanket
Description: This blanket is a double crochet ripple pattern. It measures 35 inches by 51 inches. On the two long sides I added a thick border of half double crochets to increase the width a bit.
1 Pat Gilliland Crocheted Doily
4 Lisa Satterthwaite Inspired by a series of Grinch themed patterns I saw around, I decided to make these fingerless mitts to match a scarf I made. This style covers enough of the hands that they stay warm while fingers are still able to move freely to do tasks.
5 Lisa Satterthwaite Strawberry Trifle Shawl,
Description: This is a single crochet moss stitch shawl made with a striping caked yarn. It measures 43.5 inches wide when open and 23.5 inches at the widest point when folded. From top to the bottom point it measures 22 inches. I added a button and a crochet loop for the closure.
6 Lisa Satterthwaite Cupcake Lovey
Description: This is a lovey, a small blanket-like item for small children to hold and carry around. It measures 17 inches by 17 inches. The lovey uses the granny stitch while the cupcake is done in single crochet.
7 Jenny VanLeeuwen Chevron Baby Blanket - crocheted with baby weight yarn and a size H hook. Half double crochet stitch and finished with a crab stitch border.

5203 Adult Knitted

Placing Exhibitor's Name Description
1 Lisa Satterthwaite Chiefs Calorimetry
Description: This is a calorimetry headband, which is designed to be worn with a ponytail, bun, or other hairstyle that is up. It covers the ears and the top of the head, preventing heat from escaping. I made this one to cheer on the Chiefs during their trip to the Super Bowl this year.
2 Lisa Satterthwaite This blanket was knitted with a bulky yarn on size 15 needles. Based on a pattern for a baby blanket I made it longer for an adult. It measures 36 inches by 45 inches. Although the pattern consists of holes, the yarn chosen is thick and squishy, capturing heat and making this blanket incredibly warm and cozy.

5205 Adult Needlework

Placing Exhibitor's Name Description
1 Lisa Satterthwaite This cross-stitch is a designed kit. I like to frame most of my pieces because I think they look more finished. I chose this gold frame to enhance the yellow in the bluebird. The frame dimensions are 5 inches by 7 inches.
2 Lisa Satterthwaite I Can't Adult Today Cross Stitch
Description: This cross-stitch is a designed kit.  I finished the back with fabric rather than the traditional finishing technique to give it a cleaner look.

5207 Adult Other Item

Placing Exhibitor's Name Description
1 MaryAnne Satterthwaite This is a sewn removable pillow case that is a simple nine-patch design made with fun spring fabrics. It measures 15 inches by 14 inches. The pillow form is also constructed.
