EXHIBIT RELEASE: Sunday, July 25, 4:00-5:00 pm

 

1.    Exhibits will be judged and ranked in each class according to merit. Ribbons will be awarded to the top eight entries if there are sufficient entries to merit.

2.    Exhibitors entered must be the work of the exhibitor.

3.    Commercial mixes may be used only as an ingredient in a special recipe. Entries made solely from a commercial mix will not be allowed.

4.    One copy of recipe must accompany each entry.

5.    Low acid foods such as vegetables and meats must be processed in a pressure canner. High acid foods such as fruits, pickles and relishes, jams and jellies may be processed in a water bath.

6.    Perishable foods are not allowed in Yeast Breads, Quick Breads, Cakes and Pies. Perishable foods are those with custard and cream cheese type fillings and frosting or foods requiring refrigeration. For more details, contact the Extension Office at 232-0062 for the publication Food Safety Recommendations for Safe Fair Exhibits.

7.    Cakes are to be layer cakes using 8” or 9” pans. Pies may be baked in 8” or 9” pie pans. Decorated Cakes must have the top layer, real cake, the rest can be something else.

8.    Exhibits shall be placed on plates or cardboard then placed in a plastic bag. Decorated cakes do not need to be covered.

9.    Following judging, a portion of each entry (except canning) will be placed on exhibit with any ribbons won.
