ENTRY: Thursday, July 22, 1:00-6:00 pm

JUDGING: Thursday, July 22, 6:00 pm

EXHIBIT RELEASE: Sunday, July 25, 4:00-5:00 pm

1.    Exhibits will be judged and ranked in each class according to merit. Ribbons will be awarded to the top entries if there are sufficient entries to merit.

2.    Only one (1) entry per class per exhibitor.

3.    Exhibitors may submit one entry per listing.  Fossils, rocks, and minerals (though grouped together in classes) count as separate listings (for example, an exhibitor can enter a fossil collection, a rock collection, and a mineral collection if they so choose).

4.    All exhibits must be the work of the exhibitor.

5.    While rough stones, slabbed material, or jewelry findings may be purchased, any lapidary work done to the specimen (including shaping) must be done by the exhibitor.  Any pre-shaped or pre-finished cabochons should be entered in Arts and Crafts under Jewelry.

6.    All entries should use no more than 18” x 24” of table space.  (This is the footprint of a standard 4-H display case.)  There is no height limit; however, exhibits MUST be shown in a safe and stable manner.

7.    Each specimen must be labeled.  Labels must contain the following information:

a.     Geology exhibits

i.     Rocks and Minerals:  Specimen name and location of origin

ii.    Fossils:  Phylum, class, genus, and location of origin

b.    Lapidary exhibits

i.     Specimen type, description of lapidary work done, when lapidary work was done.

Age Groups and Display Requirements
