Originally created by farmers to literally scare crows and other birds out of crops, the scarecrow now represents a feeling of warmth, coziness, security, and goodwill, especially during the

harvest season.

1.   Scarecrow must be able to stand on its own. Please bring your scarecrow with all of the pieces it needs to be able to be displayed.

2.   Scarecrows must be at least 4 feet tall and no taller than 6 feet. Width is not to exceed 6 feet.

3.    No advertising, religious or political statement or obscene or distasteful entries will be permitted. Be creative but make sure your entry is appropriate for a family event.

4.    No perishable goods (for example, real vegetables such as pumpkins) will be permitted.

5.    The fair board will not be responsible for personal property, etc. All ornamentations should be firmly attached.

6.    No electricity will be provided for any moving parts.

7.    Scarecrows will be judged on complexity and detail, originality, design, and adherence to rules.

8.    Premiums are as follows for each class:

First place - $20,

Second place - $15,

Third place - $10.


Winner must pick up premium check by end of the fair.

Traditional Scarecrow–a traditional farm or garden scarecrow made of straw, hay, etc. used to scare crows or other birds away from crops.


Celebrity or Character look-a-like Scarecrow–a scarecrow made to resemble a celebrity or character such as a TV personality, sports figure, cartoon, etc.
